re : architecture is a design firm in Denver and Boulder, Colorado focused on creating exceptional approaches to both urban design and architecture. We have experience at a variety of scales: from homes to mixed use buildings to cities. This breadth provides a unique insight into any design problem. The firm was founded by Richard H. Epstein, AIA, LEED AP,  an urban designer, architect, and educator.

The office is based on the belief that bringing many different approaches and philosophies together is needed to address the complex problems of our time. Deep sustainability is borne from a hybrid approach: not an either/or but a both/and.  The city and the building, the designer and the client, the local and the global, technology and inspiration, pragmatic and visionary, details and the big picture -  this inclusive perspective is the basis to how we approach any design problem.  We think of architecture beyond the idea of object, instead seen as a setting for human habitation and use, a place to inspire our daily activities and to give meaning to our lives. 

re:architecture focuses on urban design and planning, housing of all types, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects with a special expertise in transforming existing and tired buildings.  We also provide sustainability and strategic consulting. We bring together experts from many areas as needed for each project to provide an inter-disciplinary approach tailored to the specific problem. Our approach uses the latest computer tools and parametric design to deeply explore each project.

Our staff of architects includes Dave Swoboda, Billy France as well as associations with Brian Dale of Sort Studio, bldg.collective and Marcel de Lange of 641West. We also collaborate regularly with leading national firms including Mithun in Seattle and WorksBureau in Phoenix to bring an innovative approach and additional perspectives and expertise to address each design project in a unique way.
